A quick bio on me.
My name is Dean Dietrich. I graduated dental school WAY back in 1986. So far I have started two successful practices from scratch. The first was when I first graduated. The second, Pleasant Dental was 21 years ago. Now I am readying the launch of my magnum opus (I like the sound of that, but seems kind of final) - StarMaker Dental.
Formally, I studied marketing and management at Michigan State University. Informally, I have consistently attended coaching programs, seminars, and read voraciously about all aspects of creating, running, promoting, and scaling successful businesses.
I have used my knowledge helping others succeed. I have consulted with start ups for the SBA. I have lead marketing seminars. I have been a product manager and marketing consultant for Hu-Friedy. I have coached and mentored other professionals.
As I mentioned, StarMaker Dental is the culmination of my decades of experience and education. I have distilled the very best of what I have learned. I am coupling our fun operational style with a physical practice design completely unique within dentistry.
When designing StarMaker, I identified the dentist as my primary customer. I have seen the changes in the dental industry and the deep levels of debt being carried by all but a few lucky graduates of dental schools. The tea leaves are telling me that practice ownership is becoming a pipe dream for many.
As I developed StarMaker, I spent time with financial experts reviewing ways of compensating the dentists very much as if they owned the place. The requirements were that there couldn't be any additional debt for these dentists. They had to make as much or more than most other options they would have. They also had to have some control over the office so they didn't just feel like a cog in someone else's wheel.
After some iterations and massaging ideas, we settled on a structure that accomplishes all of that and more.
As to the team and the patients... we think they are going to find the practice just as remarkable as you will. The physical design will be amazing and fun. As you surely noted when reading our Vision and Values, we foster fun. I jokingly like to use the old Charmin bathroom tissue line - We all have to go (to the dentist). Why not enjoy the go?
